Tata Motors steps up recruitment at Jamshedpur plant
Sensing a demand picking up in the near future, the Tatas-controlled commercial vehicle (CV) giant Tata Motors has inducted around 1650 temporary workers at its CV plant at Jamshedpur. The company has last year laid off 700 temporary workers at the CV facility in view of a setback in demand.
The recruitment follows decent sales of commercial vehicles sales in January at 17,373 units, its highest in three months. However, the figure was down 43% over the same month last year, which was at 30,530 units.
Tata Motors’ Jamshedpur plant had witnessed three temporary block closures on November 6-8, November 25-29 and December 8-13 last year.
