Anil Ambani lead Reliance Power has speeded up talks with various equipments major for striking a deal in a move to initiate work on the much delayed 7,480 mega watt power project in Uttar Pradesh.
The company is currently negotiating with equipment majors such as General Electric (GE),Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL), Alstom and a couple of Chinese firms for turbines, boilers and generators.
Reports quoted that Reliance Power is fully geared up to start the civil work on the site at the earliest. The first phase of the project is likely to become operational by mid-2010.
The proposed project, estimated to cost between Rs 20,000 – Rs 25,000 crore, would become the largest gas-fired project at a single location in the world.
