Country’s largest auto maker Tata Motors is expected to supply up to 60,000 units of the Nano, dubbed as the world’s cheapest car, to the consumers by July next year and remaining committed to handing over the first one lakh cars by 2010 on operationalization of its mother plant in Sanand, likely to be ready by the end of this financial year having an initial production capacity of 2.5 lakh units per annum.
The upcoming Sanand facility comes in line after completion of the last quarter of this financial year, it will play a supplementary role. The equipments from the plant in West Bengal, which was 95% complete, were dismantled and is being transported to Gujarat after the Singur issue created a roadblock for the company.
