TVS Motor reports 6% rise in total two wheeler sales in June 2009

TVS Motor Company has informed us that the company has reported 6% rise in total two wheeler sales in June 2009 to 115,448 units as against 109,082 units in the corresponding period of the previous year. The company’s domestic sales posted a growth of 12% to 1,05,361 units in June 2009 as compared to 94,072 in the corresponding period of the previous year.

The company continued its positive growth trend, posting 5% growth for the period April to June 2009. However, exports continued to be hit with sales of 10,087 units of two wheelers in June 2009 as compared to 15,010 units in June 2008.

Total motorcycle sales of the company stood at 46,048 units in June 2009 as against 51,409 units in June 2008.

After achieving several important milestones in the financial year 2008-09, TVS has now charted new plans to do better than its past year’s performance. The company intends to expand its scooter platform to offer a large scooter and will introduce an all-new motorcycle in the executive segment. Also, in the three-wheeler segment, the company plans to come up four-stroke TVS King in Petrol, LPG and CNG versions. Similar to what it has done in the past, the company would continue to focus on futuristic technology, contemporary styling and superior quality for all new products. As far the future is concerned, the company believes that the consolidation in its three-wheeler business will be an added advantage.

In June, Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) entered into agreement with TVS Motor Company for enabling the buyers of TVS King auto-rickshaws and commercial three-wheelers to avail loans from the bank.

As per the agreement, the bank will provide hassle-free loans without any collateral security and processing fee with a repayment term of 5 years. Further, the dealer will nominate the applications of buyers to bank for sanctioning of loan.

During the month, the company added two new motorcycles to its portfolio with the Apache RTR 180 in the premium segment and the 2009 model of TVS Flame, under the brand name TVS Flame SR 125 in the executive segment.
