Maruti Suzuki India, the country’s leading pasenger car maker, sold a total of 83,306 vehicles in September 2009, growing by 17.3% over 71,000 vehicles in the same month last year.
The sales includes exports of 11,712 units, which grew by 85.4% as against 6,318 units exported in September 2008.
Models like M800, SX 4, D’zire, Gypsy and Vitara posted negative sales on a year-on-year basis while sales of the A2 segment consisting of models such as Alto, Wagon-R, Zen, Swift, A-Star and Ritz grew 15.1%, the highest in comparison to other segment of Maruti.
The company’s C segment, which includes models such as Omni and Versa posted sales 8,297 units, a surge of 11.9%
This year Maruti Suzuki India has launched Ritz in May and Grand Vitara 2.4 in July.
