The Ruias owned Essar Oil intends to ramp up its retail fuel network to 1,500 fuel stations in current fiscal from its present 1,244 outlets. On an average, company plans to set up 15-20 outlets every month in order to cross the 1,500 mark. The plan is part of company’s layout to set up 2,500 outlets in a time frame of 18 months.
The private sector petroleum company would be majorly focusing in areas of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. In state of Gujarat were company’s Vadinar refinery is located, it plans to increase outlets from 200 to 440 by March 2010.
Essar oil is engaged in offshore and onshore exploration and production in India. Its assets include development rights in proven exploration blocks, a 10.5 MTPA refinery in the west coast of India and 1,244 oil retail stations across India. In future, it plans to increase its refinery capacity to 34 MTPA.
