Major automotive forgings maker, Bharat Forge, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the world leader in nuclear power, Areva, to set up a joint venture for rolling out a manufacturing unit for heavy forgings in India.
The plant is likely to become operational by 2012. The forgings manufactured by the JV will meet the requirements of power generation sector and also of new nuclear power plants in the country.
Bharat Forge has its manufacturing facilities in USA, Europe, China and India and manufactures a wide range of closed die and heavy open die forgings. While, Areva is engaged in design, manufacture and supply of nuclear power plants, components and fuel to its worldwide customers.
