India’s mobile phone major – Bharti Airtel – has bagged the ISO 27001 certification for its information security management system, across 300 locations and over 40,000 information assets, becoming the first enterprise globally to have received such a certification.
The company announced that has been awarded 29 ISO 27001:2005 certificates by the British Standards Institute. Data shows that this is the largest number of ISO 27001:2005 certificates awarded to any single company in India across all sectors and one of the largest in the world.
The certification would help it to become the India’s most trusted brand by 2010, a company official stated. A few years ago, the ISO 27001 standard replaced BS7799 , which had over 2,500 organizations worldwide certified against it.
