Tata Teleservices (Tata) steals the show in August 2009: Tata’s net additions picked up in August 2009 to 3.4m subscribers, up 227% YoY and 52% MoM. Launch of GSM services in select circles (where spectrum was made available) have resulted in this strong jump. Tata’s have launched GSM operations in Mumbai and Maharashtra on August 6, 2009. Based on the initial feedback from our dealers, the response to the per second pulse rate billing offered by the company is positive.
Bharti Airtel (Bharti) maintains ~2.8m net additions: Bharti added ~2.8m subscribers in August 2009, implying a market share of ~18.7% of subscriber net additions.
Reliance Communication’s (RCom’s) net additions robust: RCom added ~2.1m subscribers (CDMA+GSM), a dip of 12% MoM.
Vodafone Essar (Vodafone) taking some pause in net additions: Vodafone added ~2.2m subscribers, up 21% YoY and has showed slowing of its net additions pace over the last four months.
India finished the month of August with 456 mn Wireless Subscribers [GSM, CDMA, WLL etc] and 6.98 mn Broadband Connections.
