BSNL is set to introduce 3G services in Sikkim

State-run telecom service provider with a pan-India presence, Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL), will soon launch third generation (3G) mobile services in Gangtok, Sikkim on August 15, 2009.

With the launch of 3G services in Gangtok, the services will be extended to three more districts. Further, telecom operator will increase its strength of Internet broadband services to 30 GB PPS (packets per second) and all 26 blocks in Sikkim would be offered broadband within a period of 100 days.

The launch of 3G services will offer high speed internet and video calling services on mobiles handsets, thus enhancing information and technology services in Sikkim.
