Maruti Suzuki India to export A-Star model to Africa, Latin America

India’s largest passenger car manufacturer — Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) – is planning to drive its A-Star model into the African and Latin American market, company officials stated. The company is looking at tapping new markets for exports, as the demand is shifting towards compact cars globally.

This export plan is slated to help Maruti meet its target of exporting 1.5 lakh cars, across all models, in the current fiscal. It plans to export 70,000 A-Star cars to Europe this year.

The A-Star cars are already being exported to France, Italy, UK, Netherlands, Germany and other major markets in Europe. This model comes with the new highly fuel-efficient K-series petrol engine and is also Euro-4 and Euro-5 complaint.

Recently Maruti Suzuki India became the first domestic car maker to cross the half million export mark this year.
