Construction major and cement manufacturer Jaiprakash Associates (JP) is planning to hire 2,000 people in 2009 for its ongoing expansion projects, unlike most of the companies opting for job cuts owing to the financial crunch due to the ongoing economic slowdown.
Besides, the company is also planning to give performance bonus and salary hikes to its existing employees this year. However the company refused to disclose the average increment employees could expect this year.
Of the proposed 2,000 new hires, 600 will be in the officer grade, comprising engineers, MBAs, CAs, and other highly-skilled people, while the rest will include skilled tradesmen, ITI graduates and diploma holders.
Currently Jaiprakash Associates has an employee strength of 17,000.
It had also subscribed to a pension scheme for its employees from one of the state insurance firms.
The company’s thermal power projects in Madhya Pradesh and hydropower project in Arunachal Pradesh is expected to be commissioned in 2009.
